Recognize Crew Anniversary Jam
BELGRADE BREAKDANCERS MARK THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
OF RECOGNIZE CREW TOGETHER WITH GUESTS FROM THE REGION

The breakdance group “Recognize Crew” was founded in 2004 in Belgrade. They were one of the first urban dance troupes whose sole attention was at hip-hop culture. Crew members were dancers who already had a long dancing tenure. Due to lack of basic progress conditions, such as a hall, sound system, disks and video tapes, they tended to create a family atmosphere among the dancers and mutual respect, which additionally motivated them to go on a conquest for titles at many competitions across Serbia. Also, they achieved major success at international competitions as well. Together with teams from Novi Sad and Republika Srpska, as “Uzvik Crew”, they made it to semifinals of a popular reality show “Ja imam talenat”.

For the fifth anniversary of Recognize Crew, the Belgrade breakdancers organized a party at the Culture Center “Grad”, on January 16th 2010 in Belgrade. Visitors had the opportunity to witness a not so usual party with very rich music and stage program. A great intro was made by Belgrade disk jockey Coldie, warming up bboys who arrived from Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, as well as all over Serbia. Along well known tracks “Chemical Brothers – Galvanize”, “Fedde le Grand – Put Your Hands Up For Detroit” and “Apache” in Fatboy Slim’s remix, Coldie has once again surprised the audience with a collection of his rare records by playing a hit single from 1974 “Volecu i sutra” by Radmila Karajlic. The atmosphere was by any means at a remarkable level, and among the guests was a senior gentleman who carefully monitored breakdancers every move. As soon as many other friends of Recognize Crew were coming in, so did entry into the “cypher” (dance floor) take several minutes. After DJ Coldie, DJ Nzymo from Bulgaria performed who kept on warming up the crowd by making a great overture for one of the most popular disk jockeys on the European bboy scene. DJ Woo-D from Slovenia with his recognizable funk sound “paid his share” to the audience. Otherwise, during the evening Culture Center “Grad” hosted more than 400 people, and the Serbian breakdancers have, as the party organizers, celebrated their quinquennial with a lot of positive energy.

Recognize Crew will continue to promote and spread the hip-hop culture through workshops across Serbia and in the countries of the region. Just like so far, they will combine in an interesting way breakdance, electric boogie, funky style, rocking, graffiti art, deejaying and emceeing, in order to contribute to the cultural enrichment of the breakdance and clubbing scene in Serbia.
