| DUTCH DJ AND PRODUCER FUNKERMAN PERFORMED AT THE SECOND SOUNDLOVERS MUSIC FESTIVAL IN ZRENJANIN |

With the idea, to position Zrenjanin as a city on Serbia’s map of electronic music, a team of young and ambitious people launched the “Soundlovers” music festival, which took place for the first time on June last year in Zrenjanin. At the first festival German DJ and producer Kurd Maverick performed, while during the festival this year Dutch DJ and producer, Ardie Van Beek, better known as Funkerman was the star of the evening. He started producing in the mid nineties, and through his longtime work and effort manages to build a successful international career. In 2004 together with his fellow producer Raf, and DJ/producer Fedde le Grand, Funkerman founded Flamingo Recordings.
On Saturday June 19th 2010 the second Soundlovers music festival took place at the open space of “Old Summer Cinema” in Zrenjanin. The evening introduction was made by Belgrade DJ/producer Pookie, on whose set tracks like “Dennis Ferrer – Hey Hey” and “Back 2 NY” originally performed by DJ Chus & Rob Mirage could be heard. Pookie received excellent feedback from the Zrenjanin crowd while he played tracks from his own production, singed together with his partner Dave Floyd, such as “Gangster” in the Alias Rhythm remix and absolute hit “London” in the original mix which is progressively taking the top charts in Serbia and worldwide. Around 1 AM Pookie ceded the mix stand to the star of the evening Funkerman, while the crowd enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show. Visual support during the entire evening was provided by VJ V.Z.K. Funkerman opened the set with his hit single “Speed Up” followed by the track “3 Minutes 2 Explain” originally performed by Fedde le Grand & Funkerman. Otherwise, this was Funkerman’s first performance in a Serbian town other than Belgrade, as well as the first time the Serbian audience had a chance to listen to him live at a major event. So he adjusted his set for this occasion by playing a somewhat harder sound compared to earlier performances in Belgrade. The people of Zrenjanin responded well when Funkerman spun his latest track “New Life” which he signed with Fedde le Grand and Dany P Jazz. With the track “Fedde le Grand & Ida Corr – Let Me Think About It” his set was completed. After that DJ/producer Macro from Novi Sad took the stage by opening the set with “Casanovy – I Need Your Lovin” in Chris Montana remix. Meanwhile fans had a chance to take pictures with Funkerman who stayed at the festival after that and almost during the entire performance of Macro, on whose track list was his own single “3 AM”, as well as the track “Man With The Red Face” originally performed by Funkagenda & Mark Knight. Everyone attending enjoyed the festival until the early morning hours, and organizers again justified the confidence of the festival’s visitors. |
