Serbia surely does not need to worry regarding deejaying. A great number of young talents is proving that this profession is definitely becoming more and more popular in our country. While musical enthusiasm abroad fades and turnes into business, it is still evident with young DJ’s in Serbia. As for the evidence that Serbia has found it’s place on the global scene, world known names have shown, through their longtime work: Marko Nastic, Gramophonedzie, Dejan Milicevic, Pookie and many others. To become involved in this occupation, above all desire is necessary, and then persistence and hard work. Nowdays, a mitigating circumstance to young people is the higher accessibility to technology than previous years. At the same time, increased availability of music becomes a trap for young DJ’s when choosing quality sound. It is no longer that important which devices a DJ has at his disposal, as much as the choice of music and sense for mixing. Regardless of the huge music production on the world scene, it is desirable for a DJ to produce his own singles.
You have probably wondered, how does one become someone like David Guetta, Carl Cox, Sebastian Ingrosso and other big times? Is it achieved through talent and hard work or is it an unsual set of circumstances? What is necessary, is to start and try hard. A difficulty for young DJ’s in Serbia is a small and poor market for electronic music. There is only a few who can live of this ocupation alone. Therefore, there is an increasing number of those who do other work besides deejaying. It is interesting that Serbia has plenty of DJ’s who along with their musical career manage to study and gain higher education in different areas.
Even though many think that electronic music is slowly dying, the fact that enthusiasm is present in Serbia, proves exactly the opposite. After all, electronic music as such can never go away, it can only change in form. Technology will progress, to which DJ’s and producers will adjust to. There is very slim chance that one day, a robot will get on stage instead of a disk jockey. The relationship between the audience and a „flesh and blood“ DJ is still unique and unrepeatable at every following event, that is, when an emotional wave spreads which cannot be replaced by a „jukebox“ machine. What young DJ’s pay special attention to are the opinions of experienced serbian disk jockeys, who have through their effort taken a place at the electronic music market, but above all managed to build their name which serves them even now to further their career development. VSG is giving you an opportunity to learn more about this. |
