In Serbia, the beginning of clubbing that we have today as we know it, is tied to the emergence of first Belgrade nightclubs in the 90’s. Places like Fuzija, Bezistan, Omen, Akademija, and later Buha, Letnji Partizan, Letnja Zvezda, Inkognito, Andergraund, was where the sound of electronic music could be heard. The DJ’s of that time were not falling behind on the world club scene. Clubbing slowly started to spread to other towns in Serbia. As for the quality of the serbian club scene being able to match the global, this is proven by increasing interest of foreign DJ’s in our country.
There is currently a great number of nightclubs in Serbia that nurture the electronic music culture. What should be especially pointed out are the Belgrade rafts, which at the summer season, give an unforgetable time to electronic music fans. Rafts are, actually, water venues redesigned into nightclubs. They are situated along the banks of the Danube and Sava rivers. They are gaining increasing popularity and interest among the foreign tourists who visit Belgrade. During winter season, clubbing is performed in indoor nightclubs. Along the quality musical content, they offer the audience a good time throughout the week. It is, among others, another reason why serbian clubbing is attractive to foreign tourists.
At the serbian club scene, large mass party organizers have found their place too. At the halls, arenas, indoor sports courts or even outdoor spaces, parties are organized where world DJ bigshots play music like: Bob Sinclar, David Guetta, Carl Cox, Kurd Maverick and many others. Serbian DJ’s have a no less important role at these events when they prepare the audience for the main show with their great warmups. The attendance scale at these parties clearly tells about the great interest of people in Serbia for electronic music.
Clubbing in Serbia definitely has a great rating as far as the quality of the music, entertainment, program content and the wide choice of events at different places are concerned.
